# When should I use backup codes?

The backup code is useful if you:

* have lost your phone;
* can't get a code to sign in with your _Google Authenticator_
* don't have an electronic key.

To generate codes, simply click on the arrow right of the desired line and on the _"Generate"_ button. The generated codes can be saved in the .pdf file.
