# Why doesn't work two-step verification?

There are several reasons for this:

* The user doesn't have time enough to enter the temporary code generated by _Google Authenticator_.
* Errors were entering the code.
* _Google Authenticator_ has not been updated, so the code is outdated.

Follow these steps to correct this situation:

* If the application generates outdated code and needs to be updated, you need to reinstall it.
* Enter code immediately as soon as the application generates it.
* Check that you have entered the generated code correctly.
* Use backup codes that have been pre-generated on the _ **"Security"** _ page. To do this select _"Use backup code"_ and enter one of the ten generated backup codes. The code can only be used once. After using the code, it disappears from the list.
* Send a two-step verification to reset the message. To do this, click on the link _"Lost access to the Google Authenticator app?"_. Follow the link to enter your email address and send a request to the administrator to restore access to your account. The received message with the link will be valid for **7** days.

Detailed recommendations you can read in the [tutorial](https://bes.datawiz.io/tutorial/article/pages/security#link_2).
